FUE Hair Transplant in London
Treatment and quotation follow consultation and individual assessment.
Follicular Unit Excision
FUE is a hair transplant technique in which individual follicular units are removed directly from the donor area using a small circular punch, then transplanted into areas affected by hair loss. Because no strip of scalp is removed, FUE avoids a linear donor scar and can be particularly attractive to patients who prefer shorter hairstyles or a more discreet donor recovery.
Why patients choose FUE
FUE is one of the most established hair transplant techniques and can be used to restore the hairline, frontal scalp, mid-scalp, crown and selected smaller areas. Its appeal is not simply that grafts are removed individually. The quality of an FUE procedure depends on how precisely extraction is performed, how evenly the donor area is harvested and how carefully the available donor supply is used.
FUE is not scar-free. Each extraction site heals with a very small circular scar. The aim is to keep these sites as discreet as possible and distribute them intelligently so that, once the surrounding hair has grown back, the donor area looks natural rather than visibly harvested.
Precision extraction and donor preservation
London Hair Trust uses modern motorised FUE equipment designed to support controlled, precise extraction. Punch size is selected for the individual patient, with the aim of using the smallest clinically appropriate punch while protecting the follicular unit and maintaining graft quality.
The smallest punch is not automatically the right punch for every patient. Hair calibre, follicular grouping, curl pattern, skin characteristics and the direction of the follicles all influence the safest and most effective choice. Extraction is also distributed across the donor area rather than concentrated unnecessarily in one zone, helping to preserve visual density and reduce the risk of an obvious over-harvested appearance.
Hairline design and recipient-site precision
Extraction is only one part of a natural-looking result. Hairline design and recipient-site creation determine how transplanted hairs will sit, grow and frame the face.
Our doctor has dedicated training in hairline restoration and uses sapphire blades for precise recipient-site creation, with close, controlled spacing to support a dense, natural-looking outcome. Angle, direction and distribution are planned to recreate the way natural hair emerges and to produce a hairline that complements the patient’s features.
Donor planning for the long term
The donor area is a limited resource. A strong FUE plan considers not only how many grafts can be removed today, but how the donor area may need to serve the patient over time. Donor density, hair calibre, pattern and progression of hair loss, age, previous surgery and potential future treatment are all relevant when deciding how extensively to harvest.
For some patients FUE will be the most appropriate harvesting method. For others, FUT or a combination approach may make better use of the available donor supply. Technique is selected after assessment rather than chosen simply because one method is more heavily marketed.
FUE and implantation
FUE describes how grafts are harvested. It does not dictate how they must be implanted. After extraction, grafts are carefully handled and preserved before implantation, and they may be placed using forceps or an implanter system such as DHI/Choi depending on the treatment plan. This is why FUE and DHI are not necessarily competing techniques: they refer to different stages of the procedure.
Who may be suitable for FUE?
FUE may be suitable for patients with an adequate donor area who want to restore areas affected by patterned hair loss or selected localised thinning. Suitability depends on the donor area, hair-loss pattern, hair and scalp characteristics, previous treatment and the area that needs to be restored. The operating doctor makes the final clinical suitability decision following consultation and assessment.
What happens next
Your consultation includes an assessment of your hair-loss pattern, donor area, hair characteristics and restoration goals. If FUE is suitable, the proposed donor strategy, recipient areas, anticipated graft requirements and personalised quotation are explained before you decide whether to proceed.
